Happy New Year may this year bring you Grace, Love, Harmony, Integrity, Happiness, and lots and lots of Peace.

I would like to say “New year’s new me and that’s the vibe”, but I ended last year with a lot of eye-opening moments. As I was going through my book collections I recall I know what most of the books I have are about; however, I don’t think I practiced all of them.

So this year as much as I will pick a nice book from Barnes & Noble or half-price books or the Library. I will intentionally pick an old book that I bought and practice what I read as I am reading.

My metamorphosis will be accepting the renewal of my mind and allowing it to transform me in everything. We have all heard the say the biggest obstacle in life is your mind. But have we practiced it?

We all run toward material things, and people and depend on it or them to be our transformation. Forgetting it starts from within, what we tell ourselves or believe in and accept to hear plays a big part in our transformation.

As my pastor was preaching today he perfectly elaborated on this and mentioned it’s written even in

Romans 12:2 say

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This verse could be translated in so many other ways but today let’s focus on how it reminds us to interpret life through the lens of God’s Word and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, rather than through the lens of your experience, woundedness, trauma, preferences, or the opinions of others. I believe it’s safe to say renewing your mind and change the way you think to create a better life for yourself. Plays 99% of our transformation.

And as we are doing this we should acknowledge how easy it is for our minds to play tricks on us. I think Teddy Roosevelt said it best “IT’S NOT THE CRITIC WHO COUNTS; NOT THE MAN WHO POINTS OUT HOW THE STRONG MAN STUMBLES, OR WHERE THE DOER OF DEEDS COULD HAVE DONE THEM BETTER. THE CREDIT BELONGS TO THE MAN WHO IS ACTUALLY IN THE ARENA, WHOSE FACE IS MARRED BY DUST AND SWEAT BLOOD; WHO STRIVES VALIANTLY; WHO ERRS, WHO COMES SHORT AGAIN AND AGAIN, BECAUSE THERE IS NO EFFORT WITHOUT ERROR AND SHORTCOMING; BUT WHO DOES ACTUALLY STRIVE TO DO THE DEED; WHO KNOWS GREAT ENTHUSIASM, HE GREAT DEVOTION; WHO SPENDS HIMSELF IN WORTHY COURSE; WHO AT THE BEST KNOWS IN TH END THE TRIUMPH OF HIGH ACHIEVEMENT, AND WHO AT THE WORSE, IF HE FAILS, AT LEAST FAILS WHILE DARING GREATLY, SO THAT HIS PLACE SHALL NEVER BE WITH THOSE COLD AND TIMID SOULS WHO NEITHER KNOW VICTORY NOR DEFEAT.

Let us try to still keep course by remaining calm and watching how we speak to ourselves. Prioritizing what truly matters and not just keeping busy for the sake of keeping busy. One thing I can testify to as I get older is “Days get longer but years get shorter.” make this year count in your way.

May what we say, think and do forever be aligned.
